The Australian Orthopaedic Association maintains the most comprehensive database for tracking safety issues in hip replacements. In fact, the United States does not even maintain a similar registry to assess the safety of medical devices.
According to data reported by the Australian Orthopaedic Association in 2009, the Wright Profemur Z device had an 11.2% failure rate at three years following implantation.
The following symptoms may be associated with the Wright Profemur Z hip device:
- Loosening of the hip device
- Hip pain
- Difficulty standing or walking
- Failure of the implant
Patients have reported various failures with the devices, including the device fracturing, breaking or degarding during normal use. |
